The receiver
Nikola Tesla
1856 – 1943
An inventor who treated the universe as a living circuit and his own nervous system as an antenna.
Serbian-American, lightning’s intimate.
Alternating current, the rotating magnetic field, a mind that saw machines complete before a pencil touched paper.
He wrote that we are held together like stars, with ties that cannot be seen and can be felt.
He spoke of the brain as a receiver, of energy, frequency, vibration as the grammar of matter.
In this grove he sits with Cayce’s electricity of the body, Korzybski’s 45-mile nervous marvel, Grandfather’s spirit-that-moves-through-all-things.
The current was never only in the wire.

Ties inseparable
Though free to think and act, we are held together, like the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable. These ties cannot be seen, but we can feel them. Each of us is only part of a whole. The man who means to be a useful member of the community must first feel this. The current does not begin at the socket. It was already moving in the field we call a self.

The brain is a receiver
My brain is only a receiver. In the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength, and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists. If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration. Korzybski would remind us these sentences are maps. Tesla lived as if the territory were electric, and the nervous system a wire that could be tuned.
